Friday, 10th April 2015

Took the day off from work for two events - Mei's prize presentation in her secondary school (coincidentally my alma mater too) and the grand opening of Nine West at Suntec City. The photos of my sister's award presentation are in my mom's phone so I doubt I'll be uploading any. Here are some visuals from the Nine West fashion show:

And of course, the highlight of the entire event - meeting Christabel in person!

Met JY for brunch at Selfish Gene café. It's a very welcoming and unpretentious café, a place I would drop by again fo sho if I happen to be in the vicinity. We headed down to GV @ i12 afterwards to catch The Longest Ride, which was a really impromptu decision. I watched the trailer a few weeks ago and thought it seemed not bad. It was really good imo, possibly the best I've watched thus far this year! Thereafter, we cabbed down to my alma mater for the homecoming dinner! Saw a sea of unfamiliar faces but there would still be familiar faces surfacing, which was indeed really heartwarming. Loved the short catch-ups with old friends and the various teachers who truly inspired me.

Here's a photo with some of my netballers, part of the people who got me through school. X

After the whole event ended around 10ish we (a few classmates and I + Ms Palai) headed to 5 Drunken Rabbits, a bar located in Pasir Ris Park. Funny thing was that we went to a bar yet none of us ordered alcoholic drinks (I think), at least not for me. I was actually expecting mosquito bites upon the thought of going to a bar in the park but surprisingly, we didn't get any bites at all. We chilled at the bar till around 1am before Si Yuan drove us all home. All of us stay nearby each other so it wasn't out of the way too.  Anyway, I'm so happy I managed to purchase tickets to Backstreet Boys' gig! Genuinely stoked for it because not only is this going to be the third gig I'll be attending in my life apart from Mayday Parade's and Christina Perri's, but I'll be having special company too :-) Initially I was rather upset when the tickets were sold out really quickly so I resorted to carousell to get secondhand tickets. In other words, the black market. The price I paid for 2 CAT 5 tickets weren't worth it at all but I'm still really happy that I managed to get hold of them, finally hewww :-)))

Took leave from work tomorrow again (yay to a long weekend that unfortunately is ending really soon) because I'll be having my interview at SMU. Wish me luck! Going for an evening jog now, toodles!

Thrive

Just a quick update:
  • Quitting my teaching job end April instead because I am beginning to feel extremely drained from the hectic work schedule. I guess it's a sign I take a short break to recharge myself before going on the search for a more flexible job again. I'll really miss having the kids around though...
  • GOING TO BE EXTREMELY BROKE SOON because I am a terrible spendthrift who, unfortunately, will never learn to save for a rainy day #HELP
  • Heading down to Suntec City tomorrow evening for the exclusive invitation to Nine West Summer Escapade Event! Pretty stoked for it but then again I think it might be really boring.
  • Might be joining a club - a very humble one - though my mind's not fully made up yet. There are many other considerations, especially with all the upcoming commitments that I have yet to experience.
  • This year is my secondary school's 15th anniversary and there will be a homecoming dinner this Saturday evening. Bought tix to the event and I'm honestly quite hyped up at the thought of reuniting with my old friends again! :-)
Anyway, I met Gabby after work on Wednesday night. I think it was the first time after As we actually met up to solely catch up, because the previous few times we met earlier on in the year were on special occasions such as Lit Night. We caught up over drinks and really good steak (and truffle fries!) at Jag's Gastropub. Had a really good chat with her! My night was made.

I always feel like such an idiot when it comes to romance. Such a stumbling, bumbling fool. And it’s hard, because I don’t know what I am anymore, what we are, what this is. I only know the way you whispered my name, the way the shadows danced across your half-lit face. The way you tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, cupped your hand beneath my chin. The way you leaned in to kiss me. Slow and cautious, but so quiet, so steady, like this was it, like this was the only chance we had, this was the only chance we’d get. I remember the way my hands shook, wouldn’t stop shaking, how all I could think was how the stars look different here than they do back home. You smiled at me, and I held my breath to let the moment settle into place. And then your mouth was on mine and I could feel your pulse, I could taste your lips – sweet and slow and soft, almost poetic in all their furrowed perfection. And then you were gone. Like smoke and ghost. And now here I am waiting. For something wild, for something effervescent, for something fiery in all its breathlessness. I have never felt this way. I have never felt this way about a person. But when I see you, when my eyes meet yours, the ocean seems small, the sky seems close, and the universe is no longer infinite. For that moment, it’s just you, me, and the unending yearning that lingers between us. But I will wait for you. I will always wait for you.
